Facebook vs. Google +

Hi there! I hope that you are all well.

Over the last few days I have been trying out the new Social Media agent: Google +. For those who don’t know what that is, it’s Google’s attempt at dethroning Facebook. From what I can tell – it is pretty sophisticated and at the same time easy to use. Additionally, it integrates exceptionally well with my Gmail, Google Calendar, and all the other pieces of the Google world that I’m engaged in. I was schmoozing with a congregant of mine about the value of Google + vs. Facebook and he made the following point: what will always keep Facebook ahead of the game is that they get their advice from what people tell them directly, Google gets their advice from using matrixes that basically guess what people will say.
The synagogue mussar here is huge. How of many of our committees and board meetings consist of a superfluous amount of time spent guessing what may be the interest of the community. It’s time we shifted to a model that literally and precisely asses the interest of the congregants.

See you around,
